Eight actors and two sound effects technicians brought It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Show to life in a heartfelt and energetic performance. The familiar story follows George Bailey, a man overwhelmed by his struggles, contemplating ending his life on Christmas Eve. Guided by his guardian angel, Clarence, George is shown how his good deeds have positively shaped his town, ultimately restoring his faith in life.
This production by UpStage Artists wasn’t just a theatrical delight—it was also a benefit performance to support the Emmanuel Food Bank. Sponsored by Emmanuel United Methodist Church on Cedar Lane in Beltsville, the Food Bank provides essential food items to individuals and families in need. The show was free to attend, with donations collected for the cause. By the end of the evening, UpStage Artists raised $1,280 for the Food Bank.
The Emmanuel Food Bank operates on the fourth Saturday of every month, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., offering fresh produce, meat, canned goods, and other shelf-stable foods to anyone in need, free of charge. Since its inception, this program has been a lifeline for thousands of residents in Beltsville, Laurel, College Park, Greenbelt, and surrounding communities. Its doors remained open even during the pandemic's most challenging times, ensuring that no one is turned away.
