Fall is almost here and it’s always a great time to be a part of a good mystery. Beltsville’s own UpStage Artists is holding auditions for it’s final show of the 2024 season, Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap on Wednesday, September 4 and Thursday, September 5 at 7 pm at Emmanuel United Methodist Church (11416 Cedar Lane, Beltsville, MD 20705). If you’ve ever wanted to give acting a try, come on out! If you are an old hand at community theater, come on out! If you are interested, you can fill out the audition form at www.upstageartists.com/auditions. Walk-in auditioners are welcome too! If you have any questions, email the director, Michael Safko, at michael.safko@upstageartists.com.

The Mousetrap is the world’s longest running play. After a local woman is murdered, the guests and staff at Monkswell Manor find themselves stranded during a snowstorm. It soon becomes clear that the killer is among them, and the seven strangers grow increasingly suspicious of one another. A police detective, arriving on skis, interrogates the suspects: the newlyweds running the house; a spinster with a curious background; an architect who seems better equipped to be a chef; a retired Army major; a strange little man who claims his car has overturned in a drift; and a jurist who makes life miserable for everyone. When a second murder takes place, tensions and fears escalate. This record-breaking murder mystery features a brilliant surprise finish from Dame Agatha Christie, the foremost mystery writer of her time.
