Join us at Beltsville National Night Out - August 6

National Night Out is Tuesday, August 6, at the Beltsville Division IV Police Station, 4321 Sellman Road, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Join us for this annual community event to strengthen neighborhood spirit and partnerships with local police departments and community leaders.

 

2024 Maryland Actions to Improve Public Safety 

This year Delegates Peña-Melnyk, Barnes and Lehman and I worked with our colleagues to: 

·         boost accountability, supervision, and rehabilitation for juveniles convicted of crimes involving guns and cars

·         strengthen gun safety laws by holding bad actors in the firearm industry accountable when their misconduct harms Marylanders

·         increase investment in public safety apprenticeships to fill police and correctional vacancies.

 

Road Safety and Public Transportation is A Priority

Your District 21 leaders protected $22 million, in the state budget, to fix potholes and improve Prince George’s roads, raised speeding fines in road work zones, and passed legislation to crack down on street racing, and added $150 million to block Metro rail and bus cutbacks.

 

Cooling Center in Beltsville at Vansville Community Center - 6813 Ammendale Road, Phone - (301) 937-6621

The County has set up Cooling Centers to provide residents with a safe place to get out of the heat. Centers will be open anytime temperatures reach 90 degrees or higher. Cooling Center Locations will be open to the General Public:  Weekday Hours of Operation (10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.); During weekend hours, residents are encouraged to call the facility to confirm hours of operation.

 

Home Energy Assistance Programs

The Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP) provides bill assistance to low-income households in the State of Maryland to make their energy costs more affordable and to help with the prevention of loss and the restoration of home energy service. Grants are available to provide financial assistance to pay current and past-due bills. Apply for assistance: https://dhs.maryland.gov/office-of-home-energy-programs/

Senior Nutrition Services and Meal Delivery

The Prince George's County Senior Nutrition Program's mission is to promote the meal program, nutrition education, and social, recreational, and educational opportunities for older adults. The Program has two components: the Home-Delivered and Congregate Meal programs. 

To be eligible for the Senior Nutrition Program, an individual must: be a Prince George's County resident,be at least 60 years of age, or have a spouse that is 60 year of age and attends Senior Nutrition Program.
