Scout Troop 1033 By Kevin d’Eustachio, Scoutmaster

Updated: Feb 28, 2023

If you ever wanted to experience the challenges of 19th century life in Alaska, BSA Troop 1033 is looking for YOU. Troop 1033 is recruiting team members for the Klondike Derby on Saturday, February 11th, 2023. The Klondike Derby is a test of cold-weather survival skills including sled racing, shelter building and fire-making in extreme environments. Troop 1033 will be going to the National Capitol Area Council’s Klondike Derby on February 11th in Cheltenham, Maryland (much closer than Alaska). If you think you’ve got what it takes to make a difference in the frozen tundra, and you are between 10 and 17 years old, contact Troop 1033 Scoutmaster Kevin d’Eustachio at kdeustachio@gmail.com.

Troop 1033 is celebrating sixty years in Beltsville this year and is ready to recognize their 100th (known) Eagle Scout. If you want to be a part of an American tradition, this year Troop 1033 is planning camping, canoeing, and rock-climbing adventures as well as a trip to a historic battlefield and a week-long sleep-away summer camp with archery, rifle shooting and sailing. The Troop meets at Emmanuel United Methodist Church on Cedar Lane on Sunday evenings. For more information, contact Scoutmaster Kevin d'Eustachio at kdeustachio@gmail.com.
