State-of-the-art fitness center now open at Riderwood
Residents and staff at Riderwood, an Erickson Living retirement community in Silver Spring, MD, came together to hold a ceremonial ribbon cutting and celebrate the opening of the Wellness Center, a two-story, 25,000 square-foot fitness and aquatic center. Welcoming remarks were made by Gary Hibbs, Riderwood’s executive director; followed by Dr. Lynne Diggs, Riderwood medical director; Rev. Dr. James Lyons; and Riderwood resident and Resident Advisory Chair Linda Wanner.
“Our residents are active and enjoy working out, and our new Wellness Center meets the health and wellness needs of our 2,500 residents,” said Gary Hibbs, executive director, Riderwood. “It was awesome to be able to come together on a beautiful day and celebrate the opening of the Wellness Center while staying socially distant.”
The two-story Riderwood Wellness Center is approximately 25,000 sq ft and houses a state-of-the-art fitness center, aquatic center, and indoor pickleball courts along with a bridge to adjacent buildings at Riderwood. Residents can enjoy fitness center classes and more with limited capacity and by appointment.
“I can’t thank the residents enough for all their ideas on the Wellness Center and the staff and our corporate partners for their help in making today possible,” said Hibbs.
