Ridgway, Robert Cyrus


After a long illness, Robert Cyrus Ridgway, died peacefully in his sleep on April 1st, 2021 at Arbor Ridge in Silver Spring, Maryland. He was born on January 27th, 1935 in Lexington, Kentucky to Doctor John and Anna Ridgway. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in physics and mathematics. His entire career was spent in the Underwater Systems Department of the Naval Surface Warfare Center. He was seven minutes from door to desk when he became an original owner in Calverton where he remained for 52.5 years before moving to Riderwood. Bob loved music, fixing whatever broke, and walking his corgi dogs. He was a member of NARFE chapter 422 where he was awarded the Blue Cross Blue shield distinguished annuitant award in 2017. he was a member of laurel presbyterian church where he was their representative to national capital presbytery for many years. He, along with his wife Rose, served as national skipper (president)of national Presbyterian Mariners, a family ministry organization in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rose Marie Rose Ridgway, a son, David (Mary) Ridgway, a daughter, Laura Ridgway , and a granddaughter Victoria Ridgway. Services will be held at a later date and Laurel Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Montgomery Hospice, 1355 Pickard drive, Suite 100, Rockville MD 20850 or a charity of your choice.
