New Homeschool Co-op in Beltsville

A local Beltsville resident, Karin Bowers, is the co-founder of a new non-profit homeschool co-op, Mighty Worshipers Academy (MWA) established in 2023.  MWA is targeted for Christian families looking to have support in their homeschool journey by offering drop-off style elective classes for students ages 3 - 11. The co-op will meet on Fridays in Columbia from 10am-1pm for the upcoming school year and offer parent fellowship, concerts, and field trips on other days throughout the year!  The music classes are taught by a trained pianist and vocalist who will incorporate music theory and music history in a fun and biblical environment with the upper-level classes learning to play recorder this year.  The art classes will be taught by an occupational therapist who is excited to instill a love for our creative God who made us all in His image to be creative through various art mediums including watercolor, oil pastel, acrylic, clay, and yarn.  The upper-level classes will be learning about missionaries around the world and different types of art throughout history.  PE and Health classes will be broken down into 6-week units, each with a different tutor with training in various aspects of athletics. These will include a Karate Instructor, a Health and Nutrition Counselor, and a Volleyball Athlete. Preschool students ages 3 and 4 will have their own classrooms with age-appropriate lessons and activities to teach them about God and the world he created through bible stories, crafts, music, and movement. Families must align with the Statement of Faith for enrollment. Please visit the website to learn more or email us with any questions (mightyworshipersacademy@gmail.com).
