County Inspections for Missed Sidewalk Snow and Ice Removal
Please make sure that your sidewalks are clear of snow and ice! Homeowners, residents, property managers, and business owners who fail to clear the sidewalks of residential and commercial properties of snow and ice after winter weather events may be fined. Prince Georgians must remove snow and ice within 48 hours after accumulating two or more inches. Responsible parties who do not clear abutting sidewalks within 24 hours after a significant snow event will be issued a warning, while after another 24 hours, a citation may be issued by the Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement (DPIE), with a fine of $100 per day. Fines will accumulate daily per subsequent 24-hour period if snow and ice are not cleared. If the County hires a contractor for its removal, the cost will be added to the fines. The Prince George's County Police Department has begun its Hats, Gloves, and Socks Drive. Division VI has been at the forefront of our efforts for three years, consistently leading the way in donations. Residents can make a meaningful impact this holiday season on the lives of those in need in Prince George's County. They kindly ask residents to donate a few pairs of socks, hats, or gloves to help keep women, children, and men in our community warm this winter by dropping off the items at our station. All items can be delivered to the Division VI Prince George's County Police Department at 4321 Sellman Road, Beltsville. They will be collecting items until January 10, 2025.
