Local Boy Makes Movie

Nine-year-old Sylvester I. Kirk, II, also known as Sylk, will appear in “The Corner” on Sunday, April 16 (2000) at 11 p.m. This HBO featured movie is located in Baltimore and tells the story of a mother and her family’s struggle against the prevailing drug culture.
The movie appearance is a first for Sylk. He has, however, been featured in commercials over the past three years. You may have seen him in a commercial for Wendy’s or MCI.
Sylk is a 4th grader at Calverton Elementary School who is well liked and works well with his peers according to Principal Mary Tchudy. He and his parents Faye and Sylvester and brother William (age 5) are residents of Calverton.
