Memorial Bench Dedicated at Beltsville Community Center

James (Jim) W. Moore, of Beltsville, Maryland, had an official memorial bench dedication service at the Beltsville Community Center on the morning of July 13, 2019. In attendance were Jacqueline R. Moore Weathers, daughter Jocelyn E. Phillips, son-in-law Dennis M. Phillips, grandchildren: Aaron E. Barton (Angela), Justin H. E. Barton, nieces and nephew Michelle Robinson, Tina Robinson, Daryl Robinson (Phyllis), great-grand daughters: Abigail R. Barton and Amelia G. Barton, friend of the family Rhonda McKissack and Commemorative Gifts Specialist for Prince George’s County Parks and Recreation Foundation, Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission Kathy Archer.

Requested prayers from family members that were not able to attend were delivered during the service; a special prayer was offered by brother Earl Moore, sister-in-law Shirley L. Moore, nephew Talfred Moore, cousin Patrice L. Murray and family.

It was a picture-perfect morning for such an occasion. The bench was surrounded by colorful custom designed butterflies and bubbles from the great-grand daughters. The beautiful butterflies were strategically placed on the bench during the dedication. They pleasantly complemented the calm, peaceful and majestic nature of the exercise trail, where the memorial bench was located.

Great conversations were spun, memories were retrieved and laughter was released, while those in attendance for the dedication walked the exercise trail or sat on the memorial bench to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

After gazing at the quote engraved on the plaque at the memorial bench, the popular question that morning among the family was what each had accomplished in order to receive the “You done good!” famous accolade from James W. Moore. The group reflected and made plans to visit the bench often.

The bench and nature trail embody such positive energy that the group exclaimed, “You done good!” on the warm July morning. A response back was heard by all in the mist of the warm summer breeze, “You done good!”

The vision of the memorial bench was a success and made possible with the help and expert guidance from Kathy Archer, Commemorative Gifts Specialist for Prince George’s County Parks and Recreation Foundation, Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
