Richard C. Scaggs, 74, died at his home on Monday, July 16th, 2018. Richard was a life-long resident of Beltsville, graduating from High Point High in 1962. He was a proud veteran, serving as an Army Spec V in the Viet Nam War and volunteered many years with the Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department. A life-long employee, he retired from C & P Telephone Company in 1995. He was an avid hunter.
He is predeceased by his cherished wife and best friend, Janet Lee Scaggs, son Phillip and parents Joseph and Julia Scaggs of Beltsville. He is survived by his brother Gary Wayne Scaggs, wife Nancy, and sisters Nancy Scaggs, husband Dennis Clark, and Chris Byers. He also leaves behind many relatives and friends, including his pals at McDonald’s in Burtonsville and hunting buddies.
